Maria Medrano was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, and immigrated to the United States at 4. She is a proud Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet Class of 2011 graduate! Ms. Medrano attended Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee, for undergraduate and graduate studies. She received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics, minoring in Political Science and Bible. Her master's degree is in Counseling in Holistic Child Development. Throughout her graduate studies, she specialized in childhood trauma and abuse. Ms. Medrano developed a curriculum taught in schools that aided in spreading awareness of human trafficking signs and resources for survivors. She has a passion for helping children and families. Before teaching, she worked for the State of Tennessee Department of Children Services.

Ms. Medrano began her teaching journey 2 years ago, working as a 4^th and 5^th Grade Math teacher. She is excited about transitioning into a high school setting. In her free time, she likes to travel and spend time with her 2 dogs, Kida and Pua. Ms. Medrano loves all things Disney, coffee, and Cowboys. She is thrilled to be back home at the Law Magnet and cannot wait to see what the future holds!
