Police go to elementary schools weekly and read to students. This promotes a positive interaction with law enforcement at a young age.

Law enforcement exploring is a part of the Boy Scouts of America. It is designed to acquaint young people with the nature and complexity of law enforcement. Students will learn the law and train like police officers. They will do national competitions and receive community service hours.

Gang Resistance Education And Training (G.R.E.A.T.) is an evidence-based and effective gang and violence prevention program built around school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curricula. The Program is intended as an immunization against delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership for children in the years immediately before the prime ages for introduction into gangs and delinquent behavior.

Officers go into high schools with law programs and assist with teaching the penal code and criminal procedures. This allows the students to get an understanding from an actual law enforcement perspective.

DISD PD partnered with the Birthday Party Project and make sure our entire homeless population get to have a good birthday party.

Students get a paid internship to work within our department throughout the summer. They will experience all aspects of the department by working with each unit. This includes patrol, campus, social media and community outreach, and detective work.

Students will write an essay for a chance to with the opportunity to be a law enforcement official for the day. They will get to shadow an officer or a chief and make the tough decisions.

This program was designed for elementary aged students. Officers go and teach safety tips in regards to different aspects of traffic. They get to learn what a lidar is and play with a real cop car. At the end command staff gives them a certificate of participation.

Students and parents at learn safety tips for the World Wide Web. The students perform an activity and the parents have a formal sit down. Both learn the laws and the dos and don'ts.

SPANISH Community Outreach UNIDOS is a Hispanic community outreach program designed to provide assistance to Spanish speaking residents within Dallas ISD. UNIDOS meetings are held every quarter and conducted in English and Spanish. The intent of the program is to act as a resource center for Spanish speaking residents and to present information and assistance in areas of importance to the Hispanic community.

Texas is a school-based program for 7th and 8th grade students, intended to encourage and inspire today’s student leaders. In the academy, students are partnered with their campus counselor and a community based police officer. Using restorative circles, the counselor acts as a facilitator while the officer participates with the students in discussing ethical behaviors and habits of successful individuals. This allows for officers and students discuss their lessons in a safe space. This approach has shown to have significant effect on behavior and academic success.

Teen Court is a diversion program for teens by teens that allows juveniles to resolve their cases through a positive learning experience that teaches them about the judicial process. A group of teen jury members will hear the case and decide punishment, which includes community service and service on the Teen Court jury. Juveniles can complete their community service at Teen Court by training in the role of a judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, bailiff, or jury member.

Safe Conversations is able to have a profound impact on society at large by creating partnerships with organizations in the four most influential channels: Community Organizations, Places of Work, Places of Worship and Schools. Successful partnerships with First Responders, Veterans and Schools have also been established, and include Safe Conversations training for their constituents and their families.
