PRE-KINDERGARTEN

The prekindergarten program is a full-year, intensive language development and early literacy program designed to give 4-year old children who qualify for the program an opportunity to develop skills, concepts, and attitudes needed for school success. To enroll in the program, a child must:
- be at least 4 years of age on or before Sept. 1 of the current school year and
- not speak or comprehend English or
- be eligible for free or reduced-price lunch or
- receive services for the homeless
At Foster Elementary, our Pre-Kindergarten program is designed to prepare all children to enter school with the readiness skills necessary for a successful academic career in Kindergarten and beyond. We meet the individual needs of all of our students with authentic, student-generated activities and celebrations of diversity. Teachers value early childhood education and understand we are helping to build a foundation of life skills, critical thinking, and an overall love of learning every day. The Pre-k year is exciting, challenging, fun, and thoroughly enjoyed by our students, their families, and the teachers.
EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS OFFERED AT FOSTER:
Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities (PPCD): A federal and state mandated program within the Dallas Independent School District providing instructional and related services to children ages 3 to 5 years who qualify for special education.
PreK-3: A program within the Dallas Independent School District serving students, ages 3, in a district preschool setting that qualify for prekindergarten.
