  • The LL Hotchkiss Elementary Library is staffed by a full-time, certified Media Specialist/Librarian.

    Hi! I'm Mrs. Verastiqui! I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, my teaching credentials from Â鶹ÇøAlternative Certification program, and my Master of Library and Information Science degree from Texas Woman's University.  I am certified as a Library Media Specialist for grades K-12 and previously worked as an elementary Bilingual Teacher for 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades. This will be my fifth year here at Hotchkiss and am excited about the events being planned. I'm a huge sports fan, especially my Texas Longhorns! And, of course, I also love to read -- so I can’t wait to share some of the new books with you that I know you will love. Go Hawks! 

    ¡Hola! ¡Soy la Sra. Verastiqui! Recibí mi licenciatura en Publicidad de la Universidad de Texas en Austin, mis credenciales de enseñanza del programa de Certificación Alternativa de Â鶹Çøy mi título de Maestría en Bibliotecología de la Universidad de Mujeres de Texas. Estoy certificada como especialista en medios de la biblioteca para los grados K-12 y anteriormente trabajé como maestra bilingüe de primaria para los grados primero, segundo y quinto. Este será mi quinto año aquí en Hotchkiss y estoy emocionada por los eventos que se están planeando. Soy un gran fanático de los deportes, ¡especialmente mis Texas Longhorns! Y, por supuesto, también me encanta leer, así que no puedo esperar para compartir algunos de los libros nuevos que sé que te encantarán. Vamos Hawks!

  • Â鶹ÇøLibrarians/Media Specialists ensure that all students are effective users of  ideas and information.
    -- Supervise and manage the school library/media center and programs
    -- Provides services and resources that allow students to develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems ( 21st century skills). 
    -- Engage learners through the use of print and digital resources to access, create, and share content as well as collaborate with other learners as global citizens.
    -- Serve as a teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that library/media center is integrated fully into instructional programs of the school.

    -- Supervisar y administrar la biblioteca escolar/centro de medios y programas
    -- Proporciona servicios y recursos que permiten a los estudiantes desarrollar habilidades para localizar, evaluar, sintetizar y usar información para resolver problemas (habilidades del siglo XXI).
