• For Sanger students to get the most out of their educational experience, families must commit to as close to perfect attendance as they can. Any absence negatively impacts a child's experience. Playing catch-up after absences can feel a lot like running on a treadmill -- lots of hard work and little forward progress. These attendance policies are set by Â鶹Çøand enforced here at Sanger. Please familiarize yourself with the policies and follow them.

PARTIAL DAY AND FULL DAY ABSENCES

The tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. when classes start. Late arrivals at 8:20 a.m. or later and early release require a healthcare note, court order, or government citizenship document to be submitted to excuse loss of instruction time. Full day absences, for a justifiable reason, may be excused with a parent's note, healthcare note, government document for a citizenship appointment or court order for up to 3 consecutive days; additional days require a healthcare note or court order to excuse loss of instruction time.

WHAT TYPES OF ABSENCES MAY BE EXCUSED?

      • Child's illness or injury

      • Family emergency

      • Death of a family member

      • Doctor or dental appointments that cannot be scheduled before or after school hours

      • Religious holy days

      • Court appearances

*Note: No student should exceed 5 absences in any subject for the semester. Both excused “E” and unexcused “U” count towards this total. If your student has been approved by the nurse to be out of school and the proper documentation has been completed, the absence will not count toward the total number of absences.

    HOW TO SUBMIT EXCUSE NOTES

      • According to Â鶹ÇøPolicy parents should turn in an excuse note to the school attendance office within three days of returning to school.

      • Excuse notes can be submitted by email to registrar Graciela Perez (grperez@dallasisd.org) or dropped off in the front office.

3 or more unexcused or T99/Partial Day absences will trigger the Â鶹ÇøTruancy Department.

    • ¿QUÉ TIPOS DE AUSENCIAS PUEDEN SER JUSTIFICADAS?

      • Enfermedad o lesión del niño

      • Emergencia familiar
