• Health Science Dual Credit Pathway

Our 9th graders will take Introduction to Health Professions as their dual credit class in the spring semester.  For the 2022-2023 school year they will take Wellness and Health Promotion and General Health Professions Management.  Upon successful completion of the first 3 dual credit courses in the pathway, students will earn a Health Professions Readiness Skills Award I from El Centro.  During the students' junior year, they can continue on the pathway (or branch off into one of our other clusters: Clinical Medical Assisting, Dental Assisting, Medical Laboratory, or Therapy Careers/Sports Medicine) and take Basic Health Professions Skills I & II and take the EKG Technician certification as well as earn the Health Professions Readiness Skills Award II.  Then, during the students senior year, they will take Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, and Special Topics in Patient Care Technician and sit for the Patient Care Technician certification.  The students can earn a total of 8 dual credit hours in the pathway.
