• Two-Way Dual Language Immersion Program

Our award winning Two-Way Dual Language Immersion Program integrates language minority and language majority students in the same classroom with the goal of academic excellence and bilingual proficiency for both groups. The Two-Way model our competitiveness with private institutions that offer Spanish language education. Two-way immersion programs promote bilingualism and biliteracy, grade-level academic achievement, and positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors in all students.

Two-Way Dual Language program offers students the opportunity to learn to read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish. Our students have the opportunity to work side-by-side with students of various cultures and backgrounds as they learn English and Spanish across a range of content areas. Advanced academic achievements, higher career earning potential, and cultural engagement are clear benefits for students participating in the Two-Way program. The Dual Language experience provides students the opportunity to become not only global-minded citizens, but global leaders as well, positioning them for future advancement, opportunities, and achievement.

What are my expectations of me as a parent?

As with any other aspect of your child's education and development, your involvement is instrumental to ensuring the most favorable outcome. There are many opportunities to participate in the program as a parent, including planning-attending parent events; reading to students; participating in PTA meetings; etc.

How are the teachers trained to teach this special curriculum? Do they attend classes, etc.?

Teachers are required to have bilingual teaching certification.
Teachers are also required to attend Dual Language training throughout the year and collaborate with other schools who have had the Dual Language program established.

Is my child being taught "less" of the traditional curriculum due to their involvement in this program?

No, the curriculum objectives are the same. The difference is that some of the curriculum is being taught in the child’s 2nd language.
