Martin Weiss takes the balanced approach to reading instruction. Balanced literacy begins with creating an authentic appreciation for literature. Its' components include reading aloud, shared reading, writing workshop, guided reading and word study. Students will also participate in the Daily 5. Daily 5 is a literacy management program that allows students to read to themselves, read to someone, work on writing, work with words, and listen to reading.
