Since starting as a pilot program in August 2019, esports has sparked mania and excitement among student gamers in Dallas ISD. Just like traditional sports, esports requires teamwork, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and leadership among every team member to be successful. Students in grades 4-12 are eligible to participate in their schools’ esports clubs, leagues, and tournaments.

鶹provides participating schools with coach stipends, gaming consoles, controllers, gaming laptops, refurbished desktop computers, and other incentives. Students have the opportunity to learn and play games including Rocket League, Smash Bros., Fortnite, and Mario Kart.
