Aaron Wallace, a 1985 Dallas Roosevelt alumnus, is in his first season as an assistant director of athletics, after completing his sixth season as the head football coach at Roosevelt High School. He was the campus athletic coordinator for four years. Wallace oversees sport administration for baseball, golf and tennis, and helps oversee athletic facilities.
After teaching physical education and coaching in 鶹for more than 18 years, Wallace’s experience and playing at all levels has helped him emphasize the importance of academics while teaching young athletes the game he loves. During his first year at Roosevelt, Wallace led the Mustangs to the playoffs in the 2018 season.
Wallace’s coaching career started at Sunset High School, where he coached the defensive line for four seasons. He served as a coach at H. Grady Spruce High School and then moved to Emmett J. Conrad High School. He spent five years as a defensive position coach for Skyline High School where he was part of the coaching staff that went to the state semifinals.
In 1985, Wallace earned all-district honors and was selected by the Dallas Morning News as the Defensive Player of the Year.
Wallace graduated from Texas A&M University, where he was an all-conference player in 1987, 1988, and 1989 and was selected as an All-American College Defensive Player in 1988 and 1989, holding the all-time sack record with 42 sacks.
In 2008, Wallace was inducted into the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame. In 2010, he was inducted into the Texas A&M Hall of Fame. Wallace played for nine years in the National Football League (NFL) with the Oakland Raiders and made the NFL All-Rookie team as an outside linebacker.
